Resources for parents and carers
Encourage your school or club leader to become more food allergy aware with Allergy School.

Encourage others to use Allergy School resources
Sending a child with a food allergy to nursery, school or an out-of-school club or group can be stressful.
As a parent or carer, you want to keep your child safe – but you also want them to be able to fully participate in activities in and out of the classroom.
To feel confident that your child is safe at school, you will want to encourage your education settings to adopt a food allergy-friendly culture.
Download our template letter that you can adapt to email to your school, club or group outlining the free Allergy School resources they can access to support staff, children and families.
Please add your own experience of living with food allergies to the letter when you contact your school.

Order spare AAIs for your school
Schools in England can purchase AAIs without a prescription, for emergency use on children who are at risk of anaphylaxis but whose own device is not available or not working. This can be done with a request on headed paper signed by the headteacher.
Use this model letter to encourage your school to order spare AAIs.

AAI have expiry dates
Sign up to a free expiry alert service with your adrenaline auto-injector brand
The adrenaline used in AAIs degrades over time and may become less effective after the expiry date. It is critical that you check the expiry date of your AAIs. To make it easier for you to remember to request replacements a month before they are due to expire, you can sign up to a free expiry alert service with your adrenaline auto-injector brand.
