Be more AAI aware
Natasha’s Foundation believes no child’s life should be at risk due to an allergic reaction in school.
Schools are allowed to keep 2 spare Adrenaline auto-injectors at all times.
That’s why we’ve launched Allergy School with a clear and urgent mission: to ensure that every school in the UK is fully equipped and ready to respond to allergies and anaphylaxis.

Anaphylaxis is a life-threatening allergic reaction that can escalate within minutes and around 20 per cent of food allergy reactions occur in schools. Immediate access to adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs) can make the difference between life and death. Schools can now legally purchase and store spare AAIs in case of an emergency. Yet, many schools do not have the resources to purchase these or to ensure their staff are properly trained to use them in an emergency.
We are calling on policymakers to take action:
- All schools should be funded to hold in-date, spare AAIs at the required dosages.
- Staff should receive proper training to confidently and effectively use AAIs.
- We are also urging a review of the legislation to allow spare AAIs to be used as first-line emergency treatment for any pupil or staff member experiencing anaphylaxis.
This change could save lives.
Food allergies affect 1 in 13 children, and the risks of severe allergic reactions cannot be ignored. By ensuring schools are prepared, we can create a safer environment where parents, teachers, and children alike feel protected.
We need your support to make this happen. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or simply someone who cares, your voice matters. Together, we can ensure that no school is left unequipped to handle anaphylaxis.
Join us in supporting this vital campaign. Let’s work together to ensure every child with allergies can go to school with confidence and safety.
Take action today.
Because every child deserves a safe school.

Knowing how to respond in a food allergy emergency is really important. It could even save someone’s life.“

Order spare AAIs for your school
Schools in England can purchase AAIs without a prescription, for emergency use on children who are at risk of anaphylaxis but whose own device is not available or not working. This can be done with a request on headed paper signed by the headteacher.

The adrenaline used in AAIs degrades over time and may become less effective after the expiry date. It is critical that you check the expiry date of your AAIs. To make it easier for you to remember to request replacements a month before they are due to expire, you can sign up to a free expiry alert service with your adrenaline auto-injector brand.
